Vintage Coke Machine History And Description

by Daniel Wright

Coca-Cola has come to be known as classic Americana. It's logo is known far and wide as symbolic of America's favorite beverage. One of the most popular and recognizable symbols of this classic is the old coke machine, a reminder of days gone by. The vintage coke machine hails from an era of simpler times when the customer would walk up to the red vending machine, insert five or ten cents, and receive his ice cold Coca-Cola.

Some of these old machines were made by companies like Vendo, Jacobs, and Westinghouse. Each had it's own unique design, further adding to the art-deco style these popular red and white machines are known for.

The antique coke machineantique coke machine didn't sell cans like modern vending machines do, only the beautiful, hour-glass shaped bottles that Coca-Cola is world famous for. These bottles could range from 6.5 ounces to 12 ounces. A common sized bottle was the 8 ounce bottle. The bottles were made out of glass, not plastic like they are now.

Vintage Coke machines are hot collectibles these days. Many people will refurbish the old machines with new paint and/or stickers, new coin receivers, and/or new refrigeration equipment. Once restored, they often realize a nice profit on their handiwork.

There are several online websites operated by refurbishers of these lovely old vending machines. Some even offer a warranty so look around for extras like that. With a finite supply and a seemingly ever-increasing demand, old Coke machines are sure to appreciate in value so if you're thinking of buying one, there's no time like the present!

Soda-Pop-Collectibles.com is the #1 online source for Coca-Cola & Pepsi collectibles, vintage and modern. See a huge selection of old coke machines of every make and model.
