Collectibles For Coke And Pepsi For All Tastes

by Daniel Wright

A group of people wanted to find some gift ideas for a friend's birthday. One person said in an extremely heavy Southern drawl that the friend likes to collect Coke Cola items. In fact, the friend's sister was just as avid a collector of Pepsi Cola items, so buying gifts for them was as easy as finding either Coke or Pepsi collectibles.

They weren't alone. Soft drink collectibles are very popular, and can be found in just about any price range or variety of object imaginable. The prices of these collectibles may range to less than a dollar, for bottle caps, to tens of thousands of dollars for rare items such as early soft drink vending machines.

Collectors are extremely excited by old signs that are still in good condition, since many, especially those made of wood, only exhibit wear-and-tear caused by being outdoors. Often, these signs may be stored in an attic or barn, preserving their condition. These are real treasures, sought by many collectors.

Many collectibles from soft drinks aren't very old at all. In a short period of time, a limited edition mug or teddy bear and jump in price and rarity. There are those collectible items that could be fakes, so caution is advised when purchasing or searching for these.

Many reproductions are not a bad investment at all. Many companies authorize replicas to be sold on their websites as a way to expand their customer base. By offering reproductions, companies make cherished designs affordable to a greater population. It is important for the buyer to realize that he is buying a replica and not the authentic item.

Many soft drink collectibles are priced very affordably. This allows anyone to start a basic collection. If you enjoy it, you can easily move up to more valuable and difficult to find objects. Many collectors specialize in areas that are singularly not as valuable. However, when grouped together become more profitable. For example, you might collect all the commemorative cans from a region of the country. Honestly, the most important value your collection should hold is what it means to you.

When selecting a soft drink collectible as a gift, try to find out what is on their personal wish list, enlisting a relative or close friend who knows their collection. Make certain you know whether you are buying an original or replica and pay appropriately, and for gifts try to find a vendor with a good return or exchange policy as well.
