Herbal Remedy- Environmentally Friendly

by Michele Robbins

Have you ever considered treating a medical condition with an herbal remedy, or decided to try an herbal supplement as a preventative? If so, you are not alone since natural health remedies are very popular and often very effective as well.

Peoples choice in diet and ways to keep themselves healthy reflect their desire for a simpler and more natural way of life. Accordingly, they also want their treatment for injury or illness to reflect that desire.

An excellent herbal remedy is arnica. It is commonly found in ointments and creams along with other water based gels, and it is a plant based remedy. It is a great solution for healing bruises, low in toxicity, and very inexpensive to purchase. It has also been credited with reducing the discomfort of a bruise.

Another fine herbal remedy comes from the slippery elm plant. For generations, this natural remedy has successfully been used to treat upset stomachs and indigestion. However, its most notable usage is for treating sore throats and laryngitis. Brewed into a hot tea, it helps relieve throat pain and helps restore the voice quite quickly. Although it is not unpleasant to taste, it is usually found combined with other herbs.

The United States lagged behind the European countries when it came to learning about using St. John's wort for depressed persons or those in other emotional distress. It functions much as certain prescription medicines do, but can be bought without a doctor's prescription so that one can treat oneself without undue concern. Nevertheless, those who suffer from hypertension should definitely exercise caution.

Many women swear by the herbal remedy called cohosh. Both black cohosh and blue cohosh are used to treat female issues like menstrual cramps. They are also found by many to be useful in treating the symptoms of menopause. Since many women want to avoid the risks of hormones, this makes herbal products quite popular.

You can find lots of herb-based cures for bolstering your health and preventing various medical conditions. Nevertheless, the most completely natural items can still affect you adversely or cause bad reactions when taken with certain medicines, so you should talk to your physician before using any.

Choosing an herbal remedy or herbal supplement appeals to many people and there are several effective natural health remedies to try. These include arnica for muscles injuries and the rapid healing of bruises. Those who have a sore throat or laryngitis can find fast relief from pain and get a voice back using slippery elm based teas. Female problems respond to blue and black cohosh for those who want to avoid hormones and their side effects. St. John's wort is effective for depression as well. A holistic physician is a good source of information about natural help.
