Collectibles That Are Still Fun To Use

by Daniel Wright

Old bottles from soda drinks like Pepsi and Mountain Dew are great collectibles. With lots of people collecting as a hobby and many more collecting them to sell and it's not just the bottles that are of interest as even the vending machines are becoming popular to collectors.

Vending machine collecting is of interest to some people. The first vending machines were not machines at all but self-service bins with a coin cup. Later, automated vending machines that dispensed a soda bottle when the coin was dropped into a slot could be found. A paramount breakthrough was the vending machines that actually made change.

Few Pepsi vending machines were made in the past and are now hard to find. Competitors bottles were smaller and Pepsi bottles did not fit in the their vending machines. Also, large bottle custom vending machines was not a viable option for Pepsi.

Pepsi were not interested in using vending machines for their drinks as they found the cost prohibitive. Vending machine manufacturers had to make different machines for all the different sized soda bottles produced by the soft drink companies which pushed up costs. So collectors will find the machines difficult to source as a limited number of machines were made.

Electronic machines with small in-built computers came next. The computers collected sales and other data and will soon become collectibles in the near future. Next will probably be machines whereby soda will be dispensed if you swipe your card. Some of the later models dispense cans and even 20 ounce bottles of soda. These later machines are not considered collectibles yet, but are still often purchased to enhance the decor inside homes.

Working models of the hard to find machines that dispense a fountain style drink in a cup is a favorite type of collectible. Many of the older models were quite small and easily placed on a table or counter. Although these machines are space saving many collectors prefer the larger ones and will make room for them. features antique Coke and Pepsi vending machines, as well as hundreds of Coca-Cola Pepsi, Mountain Dew, 7UP, and other soft drink memorabilia. Vintage soda pop collectibles added every day!
